Welcome to this landing page for family history research findings for the Kennedy surname, originating with the Rev. Thomas Kennedy (1625–1714) of Carland. The earliest documented place associated with this line is Carland Presbyterian congregation in the parish of Donaghmore, county Tyrone, c.1646. Other early place names include Lisnagowan townland, where the original meeting house for Carland was situated, the family’s homes in Gortnaglush townland of the same parish, and Benburb in the parish of Clonfeacle, also in county Tyrone; and a collateral line at Dundonald and Holywood in county Down from 1668.
