Biographical notes - parish of Aghaloo, county Tyrone

The intent of these pages is to provide brief biographical notes, sufficient to answer the question, "Who was ...?" as he or she featured in the history of the parish of Aghaloo. For many, if not all, of the historical figures cited below, comprehensive genealogies and academic articles have been published: a few of these may be cited in the biographical notes for further reference by interested readers.

  • Sir Phelim O'Neill (d.1653), early 17th century proprietor of the Manor of Kinnaird (or Kennard; later called Caledon)
  • Hamilton, proprietors of the Manor of Caledon – William, John, Margaret
  • Lowry (later Lowry-Corry) of Aghenis – Robert, Galbraith, Armar
  • Ridgeway, Sir Thomas
  • Whyte (or White) of Redhills, county Cavan – Francis, Thomas, Francis, &c., proprietors of the Manor of Ballymagrane

These pages are works in progress.

On a personal note, I am studying the following families in the parish of Aghaloo:
