No. 175779  To the Register appointed by the act of Parliament for the registring Deeds Leases wills and soforth

[Body of memorial:]
  A memorial of Deeds of Lease and release bearing date respecly [respectively] the Eighteenth and nineteenth days of March one thousand and seven hundred and fifty seven the said Deed of release being made between Joshua Ledlie of Carnan in the County of Tyrone Linendraper Eldest son of William Ledlie the Elder of Carnan in the County of Tyrone aforesaid Linendraper of the first part  Ann White Eldest daur [daughter] of William White late of Gortnegarr in the County of Londonderry Gent deceased of the second part and James White of the City of Dublin Merchant son of the said William White of the third part [2]

… Reciting an Indenture of Lease bearing date the twelfth day of July one thousand seven hundred and forty four granted by the honble [honourable] and rev’d [3] Charles Caulfield and the reverend Thomas Staples and Grace his wife unto the said William Ledlie the Elder of the said Town and Lands of Carnan for and during the Term of three lives therein mentioned or for and during the Term of thirty one years whichsoever shoud [sic] last longest at and under the yearly rents and Covenants therein reserved

… and reciting that the said Joshua Ledlie had become intitled to and was seized of one full half or moiety of the said Leasehold Estate by virtue of Deeds of Lease and Release to him thereof granted by the said William Ledlie the Elder

… and reciting a marriage intended to be had between the said Joshua Ledlie and the said Ann White Theretofore the said Joshua Ledlie by the said Deed of release for and in consideration of the said intended marriage and of two hundred pounds Sterling marriage portion of the said Ann White And for settling the said Leasehold Interest and for providing a Jointure for the said Ann White in case she shall happen to survive the said Joshua her intended husband for making a provision for the Issue of the said marriage

… and in consideration of the sum of ten shillings to the said Joshua in hand paid by the said James White he the said Joshua Ledlie did thereby grant sell release and Confirm unto the said James White his heirs Exors [Executors] and Admors [Administrators] All that the said one full and equal moiety or half of the whole of the said Town and Lands of Carnan as the Same was set off by James Pettigrew and John Ledlie and then in the Possion [Possession] of the said Joshua Ledlie his undertenants or assigns

… To hold all and singular the said Lands and Premes [Premises] with their appurs [appurtenances] unto the said James White his heirs Exors and admors for and during the Life and Lives of the several Cestuiquivies in the said Indre [Indenture] of Lease mentioned to and for such uses intents and purposes and under and subject to the Trusts Limitations provisoes and agreements in the said Deed ment'd [mentioned] and parlarly [particularly] to the use of the said Joshua for and during the Term of his natural Life

… and in case the said Ann shoud survive the said Joshua To hold the said Lands and Premes with the appurs unto the said Ann and her assigns from the decease of the said Joshua Ledlie for and during the Term of her natural Life and To hold the whole of the household furniture Stock of Cattle Crop of Grain and Utensils of husbandry which shoud be standing lying remaining and being in or upon the said Lands or premes And also the dwelling house and offices which the said Joshua Ledlie shoud be possed [possessed] of at the time of his decease to her own proper use and behoof for Ever

… and to the further Intent & purpose that it might be unlawfull [sic] for the said James White his heirs Exors and admors immediately after the decease of the said Joshua Ledlie by sale of a Competent part of the personal Estate of which the said Joshua Ledlie shoud be possed or intitled to at the time of his Death to Levy and raise the sum of three hundred pounds and to pay and apply the same to the said Ann White or her assigns in lieu and full Satisfaction of the jointure & provision of the jointure and provision thereby settled or intended to be thereby Settled upon the said Ann provided the said Ann White shoud make her Election and think fit to Demand or accept of the said Sum of three hundred pounds in satisfaction of said Jointure

… and in the said Deed is contained a proviso that in case the s'd Ann White shoud happen to die in the space of three years from the time of the said Marriage without Issue in the Lifetime of the said Joshua Ledlie that she shoud have power by any Deed or writing or by her last Will and Testament to dispose of part of her said marriage Portion not Exceeding the sum of one hundred pounds in such manner as she shoud think fit

… which said Deeds of Lease and release were duly Executed by the said Joshua Ledlie  Ann White and James White in presence of Andrew Alexandeer of Newtownlemavady in the County of Londonderry and William Ledlie the younger of Carnan aforesaid Gent and the signing and sealing of this mem'l [memorial] by the said Joshua Ledlie is also witnessed by the said William Ledlie the younger and William Docherty of Magherafelt in the County of Londonderry Gent

… The above named William Ledlie the younger maketh oath that he saw the above named Joshua Ledlie  Ann White and James White duly Execute the Deeds of Lease and release of which the above writing is a Mem'l and also saw the above named Joshua Ledlie duly sign and seal the above Memorial and that the name William Ledlie subscribed as a witness to the said Deed and Memorial is this Deponents proper handwriting

… Sworn before me at Magherafelt in the County of Londonderry the 10'th day of November 1757 by virtue of a Common [Commission] to me directed for taking affidavitts in the County and I know the Deponent
