Colvin – Biographical sketches

This is an extensive line, beginning with the 1749 marriage of Elizabeth Kennedy, daughter of the Rev. John Kennedy of Benburb, county Tyrone, and Alexander Colvin, Esq., of Denovan in the parish of Dunipace, Stirlingshire. The Colvins became known particularly for their mercantile ventures in the East Indies from the 18th century forward. Most of these merchants took their retirement in England, where a fair number of their descendants made notable careers.

If you have a family history connection to the Colvins out of Denovan, Stirlingshire, or Calcutta in India—or if you have information to add to the biographical sketches presented here—please consider getting in touch via the contact page.
